Question: Do you offer money market accounts and certificates of deposits? Answer: OneUnited Bank only offers the ability to open a savings account online. We do offer CDs, checking and money market accounts in our branches located in California, Florida and Massachusetts. Click here for our branch locations. Once you open an account in our branches you can manage the account online with our FREE online banking and bill pay services. Question: Is my deposit FDIC insured? Answer: Yes. OneUnited Bank is an FDIC insured institution which insures deposits up to $250,000. If you would like more information on deposit insurance coverage, please visit the FDIC website (www.fdic.gov) or contact the FDIC. Question: My account was not approved, but I received a trial deposit to my bank account. Why? Answer: Trial deposits are made to assist us in verifying your identity. Your account may be under review. You will receive emails from us that will include the status of your account and any additional information we need. Thanks for your patience. Question: I am having trouble returning to my application to verify my trial deposit. Why? Answer: Please click on "Verify Trial Deposit" on our website home page. If you are unable to complete the process, you may have included an incorrect date of birth or social security number when you initially completed your application. You will need to call us to correct any errors. Question: What happens to the trial deposit if I do not complete my application or my application is declined? Answer: Trial deposits may be withdrawn. Question: I sent a check? Did you receive it? Answer: We receive checks everyday. Do not worry...as soon as your check is received, we will deposit it. You will receive a new account letter within 2-7 days. Once you receive the letter, which will have your account number, sign up for online banking and you will see your deposit online. We appreciate your patience. Question: My initial deposit was withdrawn from my account at my bank. Did you receive it? Answer: It can take up to 3 business days to receive an initial electronic deposit. Do not worry...as soon as your deposit is received, we will credit your account. You will receive an email stating that your deposit has been received and a new account letter will arrive within 2-7 days. Once you receive the letter, which will have your account number, sign up for online banking and you will see your deposit online. We appreciate your patience. Question: Why do I have to send you a copy of my driver's license? Where do I send it? Answer: We need a copy of your driver's license as part of our identity verification process. Please send it to OneUnited Bank, Internet Banking, 3683 Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90016 or fax it to (323) 389-0548. Question: When will I get my account number? Answer: For security purposes, your account number will not be included in any emails from us. You will receive a welcome letter with your account number in the mail within 2 - 7 days after we have received your initial deposit. We appreciate your patience. Question: Do you review credit information when opening accounts? Answer: No. Our account opening system only uses credit information to verify your identity. This information is not retained by OneUnited Bank. Question: I had problems with bank accounts in the past. Can I open an account with OneUnited Bank? Answer: OneUnited Bank uses ChexSystems to review applicants' banking experience with another financial institution. This service only reports deposit experiences. For our internet savings account, we will not honor requests to open an account if an individual has a record of outstanding balances owed to a financial institution. We encourage responsible management of bank accounts beginning with a savings account. (If you have outstanding balances owed to a financial institution for a deposit account, we recommend you apply for an internet savings account after you have paid your outstanding balances.) Question: Can you email/send me an application to open an internet account? Answer: For an internet savings account, our account opening process is only online so that we can verify your identity. We do not offer applications through email or mail. Question: I am not a US citizen. Can I open an internet account? Answer: We do not offer our internet savings account to non U.S. citizens. Our online identity verification process can only verify the identity of U.S. citizens. We appreciate your interest, but cannot meet your needs at this time. Question: Can I open multiple internet accounts online, all in my name? Answer: Yes. You will need to complete the online account opening process for each account. Question: Can I open an account for my child or grandchild? Answer: You must be at least 18 years old to open our internet savings account, however you can name your child, grandchild or other person as a beneficiary. Our application asks if you would like to name your child or grandchild as a beneficiary, however anyone can be a beneficiary. Question: Can I open multiple accounts in my name and my children's names and receive more FDIC insurance?
